Moritz: my story from diarrhoea (giardia), allergy until everything is ok again

Woof, I am little Moritz, a West-Highland-Terrier as he is written in the book - -and I have to tell you my little story.

As a puppy, I came to my new family in Hückelhoven and I can tell you that I had the best time there. My master and mistress are the best dog parents, where cats can only dream of.

Settled in well, puppy school, everything was perfect. But then I caught intestinal parasites (giardia). Of course they had to get out of my intestines. I was given a strong deworming medication. But my little body was quite overwhelmed with everything and I got very severe intestinal problems. Initially I had diarrhoea, vomiting, could no longer eat or defecate. My mistress and master recognised my acute situation and took me to the vet. Snuffle and sniffle, an emergency operation or I would die, said my vet. It didn't look good for me. My mum and dad were devastated and very worried about me, as I only had a small chance of survival.

My vet, the best you can imagine. Dr Rucholl, gave his all and I survived the operation and made it. I'm a bit of a fighter and wanted to discover the world for myself first. Looked after and cared for by my mum and dad, I was looking forward to my first small portion of meat. Too soon, my stomach wasn't quite okay yet, I kept getting diarrhoea. What was that again? Those parasites were all gone. Great sausage! What to do?

Mum and Dad called my nutritionist Carola Zintl from Anifit. She said it could be an intolerance to certain types of meat. The first thing she suggested was a process of elimination. This revealed an intolerance to beef, rice and a few other foods. In collaboration with the naturopath from Anifit, they drew up a diet plan for me and an intestinal rehabilitation and rebuilding programme. After two weeks of chicken, we tried again, but unfortunately I was still reacting to a few things. But I didn't want to eat chicken my whole life. The intestinal rebuilding programme had to be extended by another 4 weeks and I had to eat chicken again. How boring, but never mind, what was I supposed to do? My mistress and master were strict with me and stuck strictly to Mrs Zintl's diet plan.

Wau, Wau, done, after 6 weeks I no longer reacted and could eat everything again. I can also tolerate all types of meat again. So it was worth it, even though the chicken was already coming out of my ears. I am proud of myself and of my mum and dad for being so patient with me. Fortunately, I don't need expensive special food, just the thought and the artificial odour would have ruined my carnivorous dog's life. My diarrhoea and stomach and intestinal problems have also all gone. Now I can really enjoy my dog's life again.

I would like to give everyone a big woof, woof bark. To all the people who have contributed to me being so well again today. To my vet Dr Rucholl, who saved my life. The nutritionist Carola Zintl in co-operation with the alternative practitioner from Anifit, who were able to combat my food allergy. But especially my master and mistress, for their loving care, their patience with me and the endless cuddles.

...thanks to my breeder, who diagnosed me with a contact allergy to fabric softener.

Woof and that's it, I have to treat myself to a portion of "Zum goldenen Ochsen".
